Professional kickboxing career

After more than a three-year hiatus, Gafencu turned pro in 2017.[5] His insane tornado kick KO on Thomas Doeve leads Knockout of the Year nominations for 2019 in all combat sport.[6][7][8][9][10] And on 9 May 2019 he stepped into the ring to take on a Remy Bonjasky protégé, Ekrem Doruk, knocking him out in devastating fashion to win Colosseum Tournament welterweight title.[2]

He missed rest of the 2019 season of Colosseum Tournament due to injury. In 2020, Gafencu left the Colosseum Tournament and reportedly signed with rival promotion Dynamite Fighting Show.[11]
