E-box 1 of insulin gene

E1 is a regulatory sequence for the insulin gene.[1]

An important role of E-box in exon 1 is to regulate genes in muscle cells. E-box's promoter regulates whether Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) is expressed. The expression of IGF-I gene is responsible for muscle cell regulation.[2]
