Douglas L. Peterson

Douglas L. Peterson is the chief executive officer of S&P Global[1] (NYSE: SPGI)[2], formerly McGraw Hill Financial. He became president and chief executive officer in November 2013. Peterson has served on S&P Global’s Board of Directors since July 2013.[3] He originally joined the company as president of Standard & Poor's Ratings Services in 2011.[4][5]

Education

Peterson was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He did a Bachelors from Claremont McKenna College in 1980, and later earned his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985.[6]

Citigroup

Peterson worked for Citigroup for 26 years. From 2004 to 2010 Peterson was the CEO of Citigroup Japan. He served as chief auditor of Citigroup from 2001 to 2004. Other positions within Citigroup include serving as country manager for Uruguay and Costa Rica.[4][6] Peterson also served as chief operating officer of Citibank.

S&P Global

Peterson is a member of the board of directors of S&P Global and the Institute of International Finance's Market Monitoring Group. He has also served on the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee for over two years. Peterson serves on the boards of advisors for the Wharton Financial Institutions Center, as well as the Kravis Leadership Institute and the Partnership for New York City. Peterson is a member of the boards of trustees for Claremont McKenna College and is also on the board for Paul Taylor Dance Company.[1]

Personal

Peterson is married and has two sons.[7]
