Playing career

Professional

Kubalík made his Czech Extraliga debut playing with HC Plzeň during the 2011–12 Czech Extraliga season.[1]

On January 10, 2014, Kubalík was traded by the Sudbury Wolves to the Kitchener Rangers along with two second-round draft picks for fellow Czech Radek Faksa.[2] On 4 August 2014, it was announced that Kubalík had signed again with HC Plzeň.[3]

On 25 August 2017, Kubalík agreed to a three-year contract with HC Ambrì-Piotta of the National League (NL) and was immediately loaned to HC Plzeň of the Czech league for the 2017–18 season. The loan will allow Ambri to call him up in case one of their four other non-Swiss players is injured during the season.[4]

During the 2018–19 season with Ambrì-Piotta, while in the midst of a breakout season and leading the National League in scoring with 43 points, Kubalík's NHL rights were traded by the Los Angeles Kings to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2019, on 24 January 2019. Kubalík would continue to remain in Switzerland to play out the remainder of the campaign.[5]

On 29 May 2019, the Blackhawks signed Kubalík to his first NHL contract, agreeing to a one-year, $925,000 contract.[6]

On 27 February 2020, Kubalík scored his first career NHL Hat-trick against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Personal life

Kubalík is the younger brother to Tomáš Kubalík, a professional ice hockey player who was drafted and played with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
