Death of Sarah Reed

Sarah Reed (22nd June 1984 - 11th January 2016) was a victim of police brutality who later died in police custody. She was denied medical treatment by the police which lead to her death. In 2012 she was the victim of a severe attack from PC James Kiddie, a police officer, which prosecution lead to his conviction for common assault in 2014.[1] He had previously had two further complaints lodged against him.

While the Ministry of Justice stated that she had been found unresponsive in her cell, the account of how she died changed. An investigation was launched and which concluded that unacceptable delays in medical care contributed to her death.[2]
