Darren Barnet

Barnet was born on April 27, 1991 in Los Angeles.[1][2] He is of Japanese and Swedish descent on his mother's side, and Cherokee and German from his father.[3]

Barnet and his mother relocated to the suburbs of Orlando, Florida at the age of 12.[4][5] He graduated from Dr. Phillips High School in 2009, where he was the lacrosse team captain.[6] He graduated from Berry College with a Bachelor of Arts in 2013, where he acted in plays and short films.[1][4][7][8] He wanted to be an actor since the age of 5, but he was shy as a kid and he left it. In college, he began acting again.[9][4][5] He speaks Japanese and conversational Spanish, and he studied French.[1][2]

Barnet's grandfather was Charlie Barnet, a swing music saxophonist, composer and bandleader. His grandfather died in 1991 while Barnet was a newborn. Barnet's uncle is a music agent, and his brother-in-law is a music manager. His father served as a booking agent for artists including Jimi Hendrix and Earth, Wind & Fire. Barnet's father, Charles D. Barnet Jr., died at 66 years old in 2008.[10][11][12]

Barnet has an older sister, Jen Barnet. He also has a younger half-sister, Emily, from his mother's second marriage.[2][11]

After graduating in 2013, Barnet returned to Los Angeles to become an actor. He worked at SoulCycle on Sunset Boulevard as a bike attendant and front desk associate.[2] He also got his California real estate license in May 2015.[2] In the meantime, he got several acting gigs.[13] In 2019, Barnet was cast in the Netflix series Never Have I Ever. He portrayed Paxton Hall-Yoshida, the love interest of Devi, the show's lead.[14][3] The first time he met Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Devi) was at the table read.[9]

Darren Barnet was in a relationship with E! producer Cassie Maynard from 2014 to 2017. He also dated model Ali Rose between 2018 and 2019.[15][2]
