Darko Lungulov is a Serbian-American film director, screenwriter, and film producer.

Biography

Darko Lungulov graduated from City College of New York with a BFA in film and video.

In 2004, his documentary Escape won the Audience Award[1] at the Hamptons International Film Festival. It was subsequently screened at IDFA, Leipzig, and GoEast film festivals.

Lungulov's debut feature, Here and There,[2] won the Best NY Narrative Award[3] at the 2009[4] Tribeca Film Festival. It received critical acclaim from The Hollywood Reporter[5], The New York Times[6], IndieWire[7], and Variety. It was theatrically released in the USA[8], Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, and Greece. Here and There was initially voted the Serbian foreign-language Oscar candidate, only to be subsequently withdrawn because of "too much English language in dialogue." FIPRESCI Serbia voted Darko Lungulov for Best Director in 2009.
In 2010, Darko Lungulov was a Tribeca Festival jury member[9].

Darko Lungulov's dark comedy Monument to Michael Jackson had its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Festival. It won the Eastern European Film Award[10] at the 2015 Santa Barbara International Film Festival and the Grand Prix Award at the Nashville Film Festival. It received critical acclaim from Variety[11] and Cineuropa[12]

Darko was one of the co-writers on A Good Wife, the directorial debut of renowned Serbian actress Mirjana Karanovic, which had its world premiere at Sundance Fim Festival in 2016.[13]
