Daren Tang

Daren Tang Heng Shim (born 1972[1]) has been Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) since November 2015.[2][3][4] It will be taken over by Rena Lee on 1 August 2020.[5]

On 4 March 2020, Tang won the nomination for the post of Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with the backing of the United States.[2][3][6][7] On 8 May, he was confirmed by the WIPO General Assembly and is scheduled to take office on 1 October 2020.[8]

Tang holds a degree from the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore, and an LL.M from the Georgetown University Law Center.[4]
