DCD Group

DCD GROUP (Pty) Ltd (formerly DCD-Dorbyl (Pty) Ptd) is a South African manufacturer and supplier of engineering solutions to the rail, mining & energy, defence and marine sectors.

DCD was originally established in 1946 as DCD Dorbyl (Pty) Ltd, a merger of Dorman Long and Vanderbijl Engineering Corporation.[1] It rebranded in 2012 as "DCD GROUP (Pty) Ltd". (DCD is not in any way affiliated with the JSE-listed Dorbyl Limited.)

The Company specializes in engineering projects, including rail and military defence vehicle engineering, roller manufacturing, marine engineering and mine engineering.[1][2] The current CEO of the company headquartered in Vereeniging is Mr Digby Glover following up from previous Managing Directors Mr Rob King and his predecessor Mr Louis Taljaard.[2]

In February 2010, Westinghouse and DCD- Dorbyl announced cooperation on creating a plant for building modules for AP1000 reactors.[3]
