History

The Club have played in 17 County Finals winning 9, including a three in a row from 1943 to 1945 and a two in a row in 1950 and 1951. The most successful time for the club came between 1939 and 1951 when the club won 8 of their 9 County Championships. Jimmy Flaherty was captain for 5 for the wins in 1939, 1944, 1945, 1947 and 1950. Since their last County Championship Final win, Crotta have competed in and lost seven county finals as recent as 2011 ( A 2:12 to 0:15 point defeat to reigning champions Ballyduff).

In 2013, the club entered extreme difficulty as they were unable to field a team for the County Championship due to severe immigration of players abroad or players seeking employment up the country. In 2014, a rejuvenated Crotta entered the County Championship exiting in the quarter finals.

In 2016, for the first time in the club's history, a Crotta team captured the County Minor Hurling Championship by defeating a gallant Lixnaw 0:11 to 0:09. The Crotta minor team retained their title in 2017 by defeating a strong collaboration of Abbeydorney/Tralee Parnells by a single point.

At Under-21 Level, the club captured its first title in 1992. In 2012, a joint effort by Abbeydorney/Crotta succeeded in defeating Causeway. Crotta made it to the final again in 2017 narrowly losing out to Causeway by 1:12 to 0:10. However, Crotta tasted success once more by defeating a dogged Lixnaw by 0:13 to 0:11. Jordan Conway the Captain led by example scoring 5 points, while Barry Mahony performed superbly and collected the man of the match award. Recent years have proved the most successful period for the club's underage teams which will pave the path to Crotta's competitiveness at County Senior Championship level.
