Cow belt
The cow belt comprises the Indo-Gangetic Plain's rural regions of India and extends over the BIMARU states,[1] namely Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The sobriquet comes from the high reverence given by people belonging to these states to cows, which are considered sacred in Hindu religion.
