History

Initially West Sussex County Council held its meetings at the Town Hall in Horsham[1] but it acquired Edes House in West Street in Chichester for this purpose in 1916.[2][3] By the late 1920s the County Council was seeking larger premises: County Hall, which was designed by Cecil G Stillman, the County Architect, in the Georgian Revival style, was completed in 1933.[4] The building was refurbished in order to create an open-plan working environment in 2011.[5]
