Cody Carrera

Cody Leman Riffle was born to Jeff and Dulcie Riffle in Plantation, Florida. He is of Puerto Rican descent on his mother’s side. At twelve years old, Carrera started performing in various productions in community theater in Hayesville, NC at the Peacock Performing Arts Center. When he was in high school Carrera attended Stagedoor Manor, a prestigious performing arts summer camp in the Catskills for two back to back summers. He was in the same sessions at the camp as actress Beanie Feldstein. After graduating high school at the age of sixteen, he moved to New York to pursue an acting career. Carrera took "Carreras", his mother’s maiden name, and altered it as a stage name to both honor her and show “you don’t have to be defined by your family. You can be the first generation of yourself”.[1]

Carrera’s first onscreen appearance was as Coach Beiste’s waterboy in the television show Glee in the episode "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" which aired February 6, 2011. Carrera made another appearance in season 2 episode 14, "Blame It on the Alcohol". Carrera later thanked show creator Ryan Murphy for the role when he was in the audience for a panel for Murphy’s show Pose in 2019.[2] In 2012, Carrera appeared in the pilot episode of the Disney XD show Lab Rats and had a cameo appearance in the 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man.

Carrera then appeared in several television shows including Kickin' It, 90210, and Sleepy Hollow.[1] Carrera portrayed "Ross" in the 2016 short film Kat's Burglar, about a down on their luck actor turned thief.[3] In 2017, Carrera portrayed Adam White in "Time Bomb", season 7 episode 12 of Homicide Hunter. The following year he was invited to appear as a celebrity guest on the “Kenda Cruise”, a fan cruise for the show where he spoke on a panel.[4] In 2018, Carrera wrote and starred in the short film Here based on the storyline of his debut EP Fire. The same year he also appeared in rapper Ralo's music video "Dream Last Night" as a "mafia member".[5] Carrera has cited actors like Sarah Paulson, Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Jessica Lange, Rooney Mara as major influences on him.

In July 2017, Carrera released his first song, "Your Sin", which won the Best Music Video award at the Official Latino Film and Arts Festival in 2018.[6] He self-released his debut EP Fire in December 2017. Fire is a visual and concept EP with each song relating to one of the seven deadly sins and a corresponding astrological sign.[7] Carrera self-directed and self-produced the five music videos for the EP. His fourth music video "Catch the Light" was screened at the same festival the following year and nominated for the Best Music Video award.

Carrera's follow up EP, The “Witch" Chronicles, was released a year later in October 2018. For the 1 year anniversary of The "Witch" Chronicles, Carrera released another music video for his song "Get in Line".

His music genre is dark pop and prominently features religious themes and provocative imagery.[8]
