Life and work

Christophe de la Fontaine was born in 1976 in Luxembourg, where he graduated from the Lycée des Arts et Métiers as a sculptor. The risky career of the pure artist brought him closer to design, which, as he says, brings together artistic freedom and creativity with the industrial needs. From 1996 – 2002 he studied industrial design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, taught by Richard Sapper.[1] From 2000 to 2003 he interned for the London’s “Therefore - product design consultant” and Piero Lissoni Milan office. In this period he also did a collaboration with Stefan Diez which got him the “Design Report Award” in 2002. At this time Patricia Urquiola was opening her own studio, and she asked Christophe to join her. From 2003 to 2009 he was leading the Patrizia Urquola design department - nevertheless, he never stopped working independently and participating to numerous art and design exhibitions. In 2010 he opened his own design office based in Milan, leading to co-founding the DANTE - Goods & Bads in 2012 with his partner, German contemporary artist Aylin Langreuter. Aylin Langreuter and Christophe de la Fontaine have been appointed professors of Industrial Design at State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart [2][3][4][5] [6]

According to the Rosenthal website, Christophe is their most award-winning designer.[7][8][9] His work was approved by Luxembourg royalty.[10]
