Chimbu Devan did his schooling in Madurai St.Britto HSS & Sourashtra Boys HSS.. Completed his B.Sc,(BOTANY) degree in Thiagarajar College, Madurai. During his studies he got many awards in art & crafts competitions. Then he joined as a cartoonist in Ananda vikatan weekly magazine.

EARLY LIFE
Chimbu Devan is an Indian film director, known for his fantasy films in Tamil cinema.[2] His directing debut was the historical comedy drama film Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikecei.
Film career
Chimbu started his cinematic career as an assistant director on Cheran's 2000 film Vetri Kodi Kattu (English: Raise the flag of victory). His first independent direction opportunity came from S Pictures with the 2006 film Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikecei (English: The King of Torture, Pulikecei the 23rd). When the plot was pitched to director S. Shankar, he liked it so much that he immediately proceeded.[3] Chimbu's second film was the 2008 fantasy comedy Arai En 305-il Kadavul (English: God in Room Number 305), which starred Santhanam and Ganja Karuppu as the leads. His third movie, 2010's western comedy Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam (English:The Iron Fort's Furious Lion), starred Raghava Lawrence and Padmapriya as the leads.
In 2015, Chimbu wrote and directed Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum (English:A virgin and 3 thieves), starring Arulnidhi, and Puli (English:Tiger or Demon), starring Vijay in the lead role and Kiccha Sudeep playing the antagonist. Yesteryear actress Sridevi made a comeback in Tamil with this movie, and Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani played the lead actress. This movie was produced by P. T. Selvakumar and Shibu from Thameens Films, and Devi Sri Prasad scored the soundtrack.[4] The movie was released on 2 October 2015 to 'mixed to negative' reviews and ended up a commercial failure.
