Cher Rue

Cher Rue (born August 1, 1955 in Los Angeles, California) is an American plus-size community advocate, Big Beautiful Woman (BBW) awareness speaker and educator, and curvy-body-positive promoter.[1] She is the executive director of Miss California Queen of Charity[2], as well as CEO and creator of the Rock Your Curvy Style Fashion Show. She hosts an annual toy drive/fundraiser in Hollywood,[3] and she is an Honorary Board Member at the Natural Ivy Foundation.[4] In 2007, she co-founded the non-profit organization "Hollywood Cure For Pain." Cher Rue studied at the Joe Blasco Make-Up School and at Bryman College (medical assistant program). She lives in Dana Point, California.

Career

From 2014 to 2019, Cher Rue served as Executive Director of California Plus America,[6] a plus-size pageant. In 2011, she produced and starred in the cable talk-show "The Cher Rue Show" on Adelphia Cable in Los Angeles.[7] California Plus America awarded her the Caring Heart Award and Miss Plus America twice recognized her as Best Director for her work on Miss California Plus America.[5]
