Chandrika Ravi

Chandrika Ravi (born 5 April) is an Australian actress, model and dancer. She is of Indian origin, born and raised in Australia before moving to India for her acting and modelling career. She currently resides in Los Angeles, USA. She rose to fame through her role in 2018 blockbuster Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu. Due to similarity her facial features and appearance to Silk Smitha, Chandrika Ravi sometimes referred to as the Modern Silk Smitha in Tamil Nadu.[1]

Biography

Chandrika was born on in Melbourne[2] to Ravi Sreedharan and Malika Ravi. Her father is a Malayali and mother is a Tamilian. She finished her schooling in Willetton Senior High School in Perth. Studied English and Creative Arts (Drama) in Murdoch University , Australia and graduated in 2010 before she moved to U.S. to study Acting at New York Film Academy. She started her modelling career in U.S. and then started her acting career in Tamil film industry.

Career

She started her career as a model in 2013 before making a decision to become an actress. She moved to India to pursue her career in acting in the Indian film industry as well as in modelling. She has won runner-up title in 2014 Miss Maxim India and was placed as finalist in 2012 Miss World Australia and Miss India Australia.[3]

Chandrika Ravi made her film debut after being signed up to acting in the unreleased film, Sei in late 2017 which stars Nakul as male lead.[4] She rose to prominence in the Tamil film industry through her great performance in the movie Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu, an adult comedy horror, in the role of a ghost. She played a vital key role as a lead actress and have been signed for several project after the movie like Sei and Un Kadhal Irundhal.[5][6]
