Caroline Freeman College, Otago

Caroline Freeman College (formerly City College) was founded in 2000 to provide accommodation for students from the University of Otago, Otago Polytechnic and the Dunedin College of Education (now University of Otago College of Education).[1]

In 2017, College ownership transferred entirely to the University of Otago, and the College was renamed (from City College to Caroline Freeman College), to honour Caroline Freeman, the University of Otago's first female graduate.[2]

From 2018, onwards, Caroline Freeman College exclusively hosts University of Otago students. It is the only fully catered college based around apartment groups, having 207 rooms spread around 4-, 5- and 6-bedroom groups.[1]

Caroline Freeman College has a "village" layout, with internal gardens and courtyards surrounded by residential buildings.[3]
