Distribution

Is it found in Brazil and southeastern United States (Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama), but is absent from Central America and northern South America. It has been assumed that the species is native to Brazil, but populations are evenly distributed in both ranges, making it difficult to ascertain which population is introduced and which is native.[3]
