Boden Block

Boden is one of five blocks in the Nuapada District. These five blocks are Khariar, Nuapada, Komna, Boden, and Sinapali. The main town is Boden, established 27 kilometres from Khariar, and 97 kilometres from the Nuapada district headquarters. There are fourteen Gram Panchayats and eighty-nine Revenue Villages in Boden block.[1]

Demographics

According to the 2011 Census of India, Boden block contains a total population of 81,687 people (40,014 males and 41,673 females), including 21,253 families. [2]

The total population is 99.45% Hindu, while the other 0.55% is other.

The literacy rate of Boden block is 53.3%; the male literacy rate sitting at 57.23%, while female literacy is 34.13%.

There are nearly 11,300 children under the age of seven, making up 15% of the total population.

Language and Culture

The Odia language is the primary language in Boden, while Hindi and English are strictly used for educational purposes in most of the schools in Odisha.

Patalganga

Patalganga, the location of a natural spring, is considered a holy place.[3][4]

According to the Treta Yuga, Lakshmana and Sita traveled to this spot during the exile of Lord Rama. Feeling thirsty and finding no water, Lakshmana pierced the ground with his arrow, resulting in the birth of the spring.[4]
