Bob Bassett

Bob L. Bassett is the Dean of the Lawrence and Kristina Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University.[1] He is a former English professor at the University, then known as Chapman Christian College.

Bassett's personal guests at the University have included film star and California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger[2][3] and directors Robert Zemeckis and William Friedkin,[1] among many others.

Education

Bassett obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College. He went to graduate school at the University of Chicago and the Claremont Graduate University.[4]

Career

Bassett has helped Dodge College grow to have an enrollment of more than 1,500 students and be regarded one of the finest film schools in the world.[5] In the early 90s, he recognized the growing industry of digital technologies and redirected the school's focus and curriculum to that area. The faculty he assembled has a filmography consisting of more than 150 feature films, more than any other film program. His faculty consists of well-known and prestigious filmmakers including John Badham, David S. Ward, Bill Kroyer, Bill Dill, Paul Seydor, Alex Rose, Martha Coolidge, and Larry Paul.[6]

Awards

In 2006, he received the Artistic Visionary Award from Arts Orange County.[6]
