Billy Stagg

William Stagg (born 17 October 1957) is an English retired footballer who played as a left winger in the Football League for Brentford.[3] He also played in Sweden and the United States.[3][4] Stagg's 5 ft 4 in (1.63 m) height ties him with Hughie Reed for the record of shortest Brentford player.[2]

Career

A graduate of the Brentford youth team, Stagg made four appearances for the club during the 1974–75 Fourth Division season at the age of 16 and dropped into non-league football upon his release at the end of the campaign.[3] Between 1975 and 1990 he played for Wealdstone (two spells),[5] Staines Town,[3] Aylesbury United,[5] Hazells,[5] Tonbridge Angels, Northwood (three spells),[6] Hendon and St Albans City.[7][8] He had a short spell with Swedish Division 2 club GAIS during the 1980 season.[9][10]
