Bangladesh Medical Association is association of doctors who are registered with Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council meaning they can practice in Bangladesh. The association has branches in every district of Bangladesh and is run by the National Council and Executive Committee. The Council and Committee are elected by members of the association. The association traces its origins to the Pakistan Medical Association which was established in 1948. Following the Independence of Bangladesh, doctors in Bangladesh reorganized remnants of the Pakistan Medical Association and established the Bangladesh Medical Association in 1972. The association is a member of the Commonwealth Medical Association and the World Medical Association. It is affiliated with the British Medical Association.[6][7][8]
