History

The club was pitched at the inaugural meeting held at the Midland Hotel[3] in Derby in 1883 as Bakewell FC in which an Association of Derbyshire[1] Football Clubs was formed & called the Derbyshire Football Association.

The first known proof of organised football being played in the town shows photos which date back to circa 1890s.

Bakewell Town had been hovering in all three of the Hope Valley Divisions in the 80s-90's as an influx of interest for football in the Town after England’s near miss in the 1990 World Cup resulted in plenty of playing resource as three teams Bakewell FC, Bakewell Wheatsheaf FC 1st & Bakewell Town Reserves met at the Manners Public House Hotel to broker a merger at the end of the 99/00 season, this saw two teams, a First Team and Reserve side playing under the banner of Bakewell Town FC formed with one Team residing in the top Hope Valley Premier Division and the other in the third tier B Division, this structure is still in order to this day.

After several years hovering between the Premier and A Division of the HVL structure the 1st Team had a huge bout of success as they first secured the A Division Cup and followed that a year later winning the A Division League Title in the 09/10 season. This gave the club lots of hope for becoming a key contender of the local leagues.
