Baby Maudud

AN Mahfuza Khatun (known as Baby Maudud; 23 June 1948 – 25 July 2014)[1] was a Bangladeshi journalist, politician, and writer.[2] She was a member of parliament of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad.[3]

Early life and career

Maudud was the third among six brothers and three sisters.[4] She studied journalism at the University of Dhaka.[5]

Maudud served as the Social Affairs Editor at bdnews24.com.[4] She was the Chief News Editor of the state-run news agency, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).[5] Since 1967, she worked for the BBC, The Sangbad, The Daily Ittefaq, and Weekly Bichitra.[4]

Maudud took part in 1969 mass upsurge and was engaged in political activities with Begum Sufia Kamal in 1971.[6]

Maudud won Anannya Bishesh Shommanona in 2012.[7]

Personal life

Maudud's father, Abdul Maudud, was a justice. She was married to advocate Md Hasan Ali. Together they had two sons, Rabiul Hasan Avi and Shafiul Hassan Dipto.[4]
