B.M.S. College of Engineering

B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE) is an autonomous engineering college in Basavangudi, Bangalore, India. It was started in 1946 by Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah and is run by the B.M.S. Educational Trust.It is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University and became autonomous in 2008. BMSCE is located on the Basavangudi Area Bull Temple Road, diagonally opposite to the famous Bull Temple. Though a private engineering college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.[1]

History

BMSCE was founded in 1946 by B. M. Sreenivasaiah with 3 undergraduate courses (Mechanical, Civil & Electrical), claiming to be "the first private sector initiative in engineering education in India". Sreenivasaiah was followed by his son B. S. Narayan.[2]

BMSCE was ranked 69 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) engineering ranking in 2019[3] and 40 by Outlook India's "India's Top 150 Engineering Colleges in 2019 ".[4] It was ranked sixth among private engineering colleges by India Today in 2019.[5]

Accreditation

BMSCE was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A++ grade.[6] Some of the college courses are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).[7] The college is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University.[8]
