Arnoglossum plantagineum

Arnoglossum plantagineum also known as groovestem Indian plantain[2] or Prairie Indian Plantain,[3] is a North American species of Arnoglossum in the sunflower family.[4] It is native to the Central United States (Great Lakes, Mississippi Valley, southeastern Great Plains, from Texas east to Alabama and north to Minnesota and Michigan), with additional populations in the Canadian Province of Ontario.[5]

Arnoglossum plantagineum is a large herb up to 100 cm (40 inches) tall, spreading by means of underground rhizomes. Flower heads are white or green. The plant grows in pastures, wet meadows, and bogs.[4]

The Latin specific epithet plantagineum refers to the leaves of the plant which are similar to those of a plantain.[6]
