Apurva Kasaravalli

Apurva Kasaravalli or Apoorva Kasaravalli is an Indian filmmaker, working in both Bollywood and the kannada film industry. Born into a cinema centric household, to ‘Padmasri’ Dr. Girish Kasaravalli, a multiple international and national award winning Film Director and Smt. Vaishali Kasaravalli an Actor-director.

With a Masters degree in filmmaking from University of Technology, Sydney and a Bachelors Degree in Journalism from Christ College, Bangalore, Apurva started working as assistant director to Girish kasaravalli before moving on to Adfilms with Trends Adfilm makers, working on over 50 TVC’s.

After spending 5 years in Sydney, Australia, studying and working as a Line Producer, Asst. Director, Cinematographer and Editor on different projects, he came back to India in 2007 and worked as Assistant to ace Cinematographer S.Tirru before making the move into full time Direction. Niruttara is his debut Kannada film.

In his projects now, Apurva tries to bring what he has absorbed working in different mediums in both India and Australia.

         

Personal life

Apurva is the son of Girish Kasaravalli and Vaishali Kasaravalli, and brother of Ananya Kasaravalli.[1] He studied in Christ University and did Masters in University of Technology Sydney.[2] He is married to Vandana Supriya, who is an Odissi performer and choreographer.

Both Apurva and Vandana perform an yearly event called ′Asmi′ at Ravindra Kalakshetra, in which renowned musicians and dancers perform.[3]
