Education

Anya Liftig received her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1999 from Yale University. She completed her Masters of Fine Arts at Georgia State University in 2004. She also has a certificate of advanced work from the International Center for Photography, which she earned in 2001.[1]

Work

Liftig's work focuses on the body and its relationship to other bodies, other people, and the built environment.[2] She is perhaps best known for her 2010 performance entitled The Anxiety of Influence, in which she sat directly across from artist Marina Abramović for most of the day at the Museum of Modern Art (New York) during Abramovic's performance entitled The Artist Is Present.
