Annick Massis

Annick Massis (French pronunciation: [a.nik ma.sis]; born 31 January 1958) is a French operatic soprano.

Biography

She worked as a school teacher before going to study at the Conservatoire Francis Poulenc in Paris. Her stage career began in Toulouse in the early 1990s, where she performed in operas by Mozart as well as playing the role of Leila in Bizet's The Pearl Fishers.

In 1998, she performed the role of Ophélie in Hamlet at the Washington Concert Opera.

In 1999, she took the lead in Lucia di Lammermoor in Toulouse as well as in Barcelona the next year. She has also sung many bel canto roles. In 2004, she played Violetta in La Traviata in Pittsburgh. In 2009, Annick Massis sang all four major soprano roles in a production of the Contes d´Hoffmann at the Opéra de Nice.

In 2019 she performed Mithilde in the critically acclaimed Guillaume Tell in July at the Chorégies d'Orange.[1][2]

She was named Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007.[3][4]
