Amager Bryghus

Amager Bryghus is a Danish microbrewery situated on Amager. It was founded in 2007 by Morten Valentin Lundsbak and Jacob Storm[1] in an old warehouse previously owned by the Church of Scientology.[2] Its first beer that made it to Ratebeer Top 50 was an Imperial Stout called Hr. Frederiksen.[3] It was a beer to celebrate a friend of the owners, Peter Frederiksen, who helped them for a whole year in setting up the brewery.[2] Due to the success of Hr. Frederiksen, they partnered with Shelton Brothers, and started to export to U.S.[2] Since 2009 they have been in the Ratebeer top 100 breweries list.[4]

In 2013, one of their labels for their beer Lust was censored by the Swedish state alcohol authority (Systembolaget), due to the depiction of a topless woman. This was considered unacceptable by Systembolaget due to the fact that "sexual success can not be associated with drinking beer".[5] and created a controversy about censorship featured by Swedish media.[6]

In 2017, Amager Bryghus moved to larger premises at Kirstinehøj 38B in Kastrup right next to Copenhagen Airport.
