In 2019, he signed for defending champions Al-Shorta, allowing Yousif to play in the AFC Champions League for the first time in his career. He won his first trophy with Al-Shorta soon after joining, winning the 2019 Super Cup.

Club Career
Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya
Ali spent his entire youth career at Iraqi giants Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, joining the club’s academy at a young age and going up the age groups before making his first team debut at the age of 18 in 2014. He spent two seasons at the Falcons, picking up appearances mostly as a bench player, coming on to help the team. After returning from his two loan spells, Yousif would break into Al-Jawiya’s starting lineup, becoming one of their most important players as he partnered club captain and legend Hammadi Ahmad up front. He would win the 2017 AFC Cup and the 2018 AFC Cup with the club.
Loan to Naft Al-Wasat
At the start of the 2016-17 season, Ali was loaned out to Najaf-based club Naft Al-Wasat on a six-month loan deal, where he established himself as a key player. The club would end the season in fifth place.
Loan to Baghdad FC
In January 2017, Yousif returned to the Iraqi capital, going out on another six-month loan deal, this time to Baghdad FC. He again made himself a starting player, helping Baghdad to an eighth place finish.
Al-Shorta
In the summer of 2019, Ali signed for defending Iraqi Premier League champions Al-Shorta,[2] coming in as the replacement for former star and fan favourite Mohanad Ali, who had left to join Qatari side Al-Duhail for a rumoured $2 million.[3] In February during Al-Shorta’s Premier League match against Al-Kahrabaa, Yousif suffered a bad injury which would end his season and keep him out for no less than 6 months. International Career
Ali has represented Iraq at U23 level, being called up to the Olympic team in 2017.
