Ali Mech

Ali Mech was a tribal chief in the 12th century CE, in the region of present-day Assam, India.[1] Mech tribe of Kachari of Assam,[2] who helped Bakhtiyar Khilji in his conquest of Tibet.[3]

He is thought to have been the first Muslim convert in Assam.[4] He converted to Islam in 1205 AD. He is considered as founding father of Deshi people of Assam.[5]
