Aisling Chin-Yee

Aisling Chin-Yee is a Canadian film director, writer and producer, based in Montreal and Los Angeles.[1][2] She is best known for her work on the film, The Rest of Us.[3]

Life and career

Aisling was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She graduated from Concordia University. She started her career as associate producer at the National Film Board of Canada in 2006 and joined Prospector Films as producer in 2010.[4] Her short film, Sound Asleep (2014), premiered at Lucerne International Film Festival. In 2015, her documentary film, Synesthesia, won best short documentary at the Crossroads Film Festival.[5] she co-created the #AfterMeToo movement in 2017 along with Mia Kirshner and Freya Ravensbergen that consisted of a symposium, a report, and fund in partnership with the Canadian Women's Foundation.[6][7]

Aisling's directorial debut feature film, The Rest of Us, starring Heather Graham, Sophie Nélisse and Jodi Balfour, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.[8] She was nominated for best feature film editing by the Canadian Cinema Editors in 2020.[9] In 2020, she is co-directing with Chase Joynt, the documentary feature film about Billy Tipton, a transgender American jazz musician.[10] She is represented by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment (WME) and Elevate Entertainment.[11]
