AdventHealth Lake Placid

AdventHealth Lake Placid, (formerly Florida Hospital Lake Placid), located just north of Lake Placid, Florida, serves southern Highlands County, Florida. It is on the west side of U.S. Highway 27; its street address is: 1210 US 27 North, Lake Placid, Florida 33852. All Florida Hospital locations are part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Lake Placid Health Care Center is just west of the hospital and hospital property is bordered on the southwest by the Tomoka Heights retirement residential community.[1]

History

This hospital opened in 1982, offering only emergency and outpatient services. In 1989 inpatient services were added. A very small intensive care unit was added and an inpatient mental health unit was added . In 2000 a new wing was added to house a larger intensive care unit with ten beds. In 2001 the front of the hospital was rebuilt and a new emergency department was built, expanding its capacity to ten beds and a triage room.closed psychiatric inpatients unit last year.[2]

Services

The main hospital building has various outpatient services, such as a laboratory, radiology rooms, a surgical suite and a physical therapy center. The laboratory, physical therapy and radiology departments also serve inpatients. Inpatient services include a general medical unit, an intensive care unit and an emergency department.

Just north of the hospital is the Fitness Center, at 140 Health Way. The Fitness Center provides an environment where members may come to exercise with various exercise equipment.[3]

Ratings

Very few patient satisfaction ratings are available for this hospital. However, Health Grades provides ratings for twelve patient safety indicators. These are based on objective criteria and are professional ratings. Three rating scores are possible: worse, average and better. Florida Hospital Lake Placid rated two worse, seven average and three better indicator scores.[4]
