Adikal

Adikal is a sub-caste of Nambootiri. They belong to viswamithra Gothram, followers of Yajurveda, and boudhayana. The most prominent people in the ancient kodungallur bhagwathi temple are these brahmins. They are the descendants of Mezhathol agnihothri, who has the tradition of sacrificial. The tantric rituals that are bestowed on them are highly secretive and have been handed down for generations. These tantric rituals adviced to them by Mezhathol agnihothri.

Adikal, it's the title used in honor. They are considered to be the highest achievers of sreechakra Pooja and Sreevidyopasana. After a step in sreevidyopasana, it is believed that the ancestors, goddess and herself were a situation, were the same. There were generations of sadhakans who were like rishi's. The origin (capital)of Adikal community is from kodukkunnathu kavu near to thrithala palakkad district.
