Scope: "The Journal specifically highlights the pathway from discovery to clinical applications, healthcare and global health that can be viewed broadly as the spectrum of work that marks the pathway from discovery to global health. The steps of translation that are within the scope include: 1) fundamental discovery, 2) bench to bedside, 3) clinical trials, 4) translation to clinical guidelines, 5) health policy and usage, and 6) global health. Research covering molecular biology, genetics, pharmacology, imaging and epidemiology is welcome as it contributes to enhancing the field.' [1]

History

The journal was first published in September 1989 as the official publication of IGBP (INTERDISCIPLINAIR GENOOTSCHAP VOOR BIOLOGISCHE PSYCHIATRIE).[2] The journal was originally published by Uitgeverij De Medicus b.v. and Maarssen publishers almost entirely in Dutch language until issue 14 in 2002, where the journal shifted publisher to Blackwell Munksgaard and the language became English.[3] The founding Editor was M.J.A.J.M. Hoes (editor 1989-1999), followed by Michael Maes (editor 2000-2005), Gin S. Malhi (editor 2006-2011) and Gregers Wegener (current editor).[1] The journal was published by John Wiley & Sons[4] until 2012 and is now published by Cambridge University Press. In 2011, the journal became the official journal of the Scandinavian College of Neuropsychopharmacology.[5] The journal is indexed in all major bibliometric databases, including ISI, SCOPUS and PubMed.
