History

The idea of an Asian women's club competition was first proposed in 2018.[2] The first edition was held as a round-robin with four teams taking part in November 2019, which were the domestic league champions of Associations from Australia, China, Japan and South Korea.[3] It is proposed that there will be a maximum six invited clubs in 2020. In 2021 and 2022, there will be eight invited clubs and by 2023 and 2024, this will grow to a minimum of 12 which will be open to all Member Associations and in 2025, it will be consolidated to 16 teams.[4]
