ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup

The ACC Emerging Asia Cup is a cricket tournament organised by the ACC for Emerging teams from its member nations. It was first held in 2013 in Singapore where India U-23 won the tournament. In final India U-23 beat Pakistan U-23 by 9 wickets .[1] The second edition was held in Bangladesh in 2017 where Sri Lanka U-23 beat Pakistan U-23 by 5 wickets in final .[2] The third edition was held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 2018 where Sri Lanka U-23 retained their title to beat the India U-23 by 3 runs in final .[3][4] In 4th edition was held in Bangladesh in 2019 where Pakistan U-23 beat Bangladesh U-23 by 77 runs.[5]

History

2013

The 2013 ACC Emerging Teams Cup was first edition a cricket tournament being held in Singapore. Eight teams are participating in the tournament including four under-23 age level teams of Test nations and four top associate teams from Asia. India U-23, Pakistan U-23, Bangladesh U-23, Sri Lanka U-23, Nepal, Afghanistan, UAE, Singapore are participated in this tournament. India beat UAE and Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in semifinal. Then India beat Pakistan by 9 wickets in final and India become the champion of inaugural tournament. Most runs of the tournament Lokesh Rahul (Ind) (321) and most wickets is Nasir Aziz (UAE) (17).

2017

The 2017 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup was second edition a cricket tournament being held in Bangladesh. In this edition Hong Kong and Malaysia are participated in this tournament instead of Singapore and UAE. Eight teams are participating in the tournament. Sri Lanka U-23 and Afghanistan Emerging Team form group-A and Pakistan U-23 and Bangladesh U-23 are from group-B are qualified to semifinal. In final Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 5 wickets and won the maiden emerging asia cup. Most runs in this tournament is Charith Asalanka (SL) (338) and most wickets is Usama Mir (Pak) (13).

2018

The 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup was third edition a cricket tournament held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Eight teams participated in the tournament including five under-23 age level teams of Test nations and three top associate teams from Asia. Initially, Pakistan was sole host for the tournament but India and BCCI refused to send Indian players to Pakistan.[6] Following the increasing political tensions between India and Pakistan, ACC announced that Sri Lanka would be the co-host whilst India's matches and knockout stage will be played there.[7] The U-23 teams from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan qualified for the semi-finals. Sri Lanka's U-23 defeated India U-23 by 3 runs in the final to win the tournament. Most runs of the tournament Kamindu Mendis (SL) (310) and most wickets is Mayank Markande (Ind) (12).

2019

The 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup was the fourth edition of a cricket tournament held in Bangladesh.[8]United Arab Emirates withdrew the name from the tournament due to the official problem. Nepal replaced UAE for the tournament. Nepal qualified on virtue of being fourth in the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier.[9] Pakistan U-23, Afghanistan U-23, India U-23 and Bangladesh U-23 are qualified to semifinal. Pakistan won the tournament, beating Bangladesh by 77 runs in the final and won the maiden emerging asia cup. Most runs in this tournament is Rohail Nazir (Pak) (302) and most wickets is Sumon Khan (Ban) (14).

2020
