1982 Midwestern City Conference Men's Basketball Tournament

The 1982 Midwestern City Conference Men's Basketball Tournament (now known as the Horizon League Men's Basketball Tournament) was held March 2–4 at Mabee Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.[1]

Evansville defeated Loyola-Chicago in the championship game, 81–72, to win their first MCC/Horizon League men's basketball tournament.

The Purple Aces received an automatic bid to the 1982 NCAA Tournament as the #10 seed in the Midwest region.

Format

All seven conference members participated in the tournament and were seeded based on regular season conference records. The top seed (Evansville) was given a bye into the semifinal round while the remaining six teams were placed into the initial quarterfinal round.
