Zvi Hirsh Broide

Zvi Hirsh Broide (Hebrew: צבי הירש ברוידא), (also spelled Tzvi Hirsch Braude)[1][2]) was a leading Talmudic scholar who served as Rav of the town of Salant. He was the son of the Alter of Kelm[3][4] and the first rebbi of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter.

Biography

His brother's name was Nachum Broide.[2] Their father's name was Rabbi Arie Leib Broide,[5][6] rabbi of Lvov and their mother was Chana, daughter of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Orenstein.[1]
