Zachary Yuen (simplified Chinese: 袁俊杰; traditional Chinese: 袁俊傑; pinyin: Yuán Jùnjié; born March 3, 1993) is a Canadian ice hockey defenceman. He is currently a player for KRS Heilongjiang, the VHL affiliate of Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League.[1]
In 2011, Yuen became the first player of Chinese descent to be drafted to the NHL when he was selected 119th overall, by the Winnipeg Jets, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In the same year, he was selected to the Canadian Hockey League All-Star Team. On October 27, 2016, Yuen became the first player of Chinese descent to score a goal in the KHL. On February 24, 2017, Yuen became the first player of Chinese descent to score a goal in the KHL Playoffs. Yuen is the recipient of the Master Card Best Priceless Player of the KHL playoff for HC Kunlun Red Star for the 2016-2017 season.
