Stomopteryx orthogonella is a moth of the Gelechiidae family. It was described by Staudinger in 1871. It is found in central and southern European Russia[1][2] and Ukraine.
The wingspan is 12.5–14.5 mm. The forewings are brown with a narrow black streak from the base along the fold to nearly half the length of the wing, with a few orange-brown scales and a diffuse black spot in the middle of the cell. There is also a black dot in the cell corner, as well as creamy spots at three-fourths of the costa and dorsum. The subapical area is mottled with grey scales. The hindwings are grey with a narrow yellow-white line at the border to the grey fringe. Adults have been recorded on wing in May, July and August, possibly in two generations per year.[3]
