History

The prototype of Xuzhou No.1 Middle School was Yunlong Academy(雲龍書院), which was set up in 1721 in early Qing dynasty. In 1903, a modern middle school, Xuzhou Middle School(徐州中學堂) was set up. This school later became Xuzhou Normal School(徐州師範學堂) in 1906

After the Republic of China was founded, the provincial government of Jiangsu set up a sequence of schools, including No.10 Middle School of Jiangsu Province(江蘇省立第十中學), which located in Xuzhou. After the Nanking Nationalists Government started the University-District System, the school changed its name to Xuzhou Middle School in No.4 Zhongshan University-District(第四中山大學區立徐州中學) in 1927. One year later, its name was changed to Xuzhou Middle School of Jiangsu Province(江蘇省立徐州中學). As the anti-Japanese war began in 1938, the school was forced to migrate westward to Wuhan, Hubei Province, and later stopped. After the war ceased, in the year 1946, Xuzhou Middle School of Jiangsu Province reopened. In 1948, the school changed its name to No.1 Middle School of Xuzhou Prefecture(徐州市立第一中學).

After the People's Republic of China was founded, in the year 1950, as the prefecture of Xuzhou was transferred to Shandong Province, the school accordingly changed its name to Xuzhou No.1 Middle School of Shandong Province(山東省立徐州市第一中學). Later, as Xuzhou returned to Jiangsu Province, the name finally coined as Xuzhou No.1 Middle School of Jiangsu Province(江苏省徐州市第一中学).
