Written In Song is the sixteenth studio album by American country music singer and Grand Ole Opry star Jeannie Seely and her first in six years (following 2011's Vintage Country). It was released on January 13, 2017 through Cheyenne Records. The album consists of 14 tracks that were either written or co-written by Seely with the majority of them having been previously recorded by other artists however, two songs ("Who Needs You" and "We're Still Hangin' In There Ain't We Jessi") were written specifically for this project.
Background
As a gift to Seely, instead of playing his regular guitar, Marty Stuart used guitars specially taken from his museum that were previously owned by Mother Maybelle Carter and Hank Williams Sr. during the recording of the album.[1]
The album includes guest contributions from Stuart, Connie Smith, Jan Howard, Jessi Colter, Kenny Sears and his daughter Tessa (who Seely asked to sing as a tribute to Dawn Sears).[2]
