Writers Guild of India

Writers Guild of India (WGI) is a non-profitable association, representing writers of story, poetry, plays, film and television. This organization was started by professional writers for writers in 2004 as "Script Writers Association of Andhra Pradesh (SWAAP) in Andhra Pradesh, and in November 2009 SWAAP became the Writers Guild of India (WGI).

Philosophy

WGI has an association belief in the philosophy that "knowledge not shared is knowledge lost". To further this principle, WGI has conducted several workshops and seminars outings for its members to introduce literature writing techniques in prose, poetry, play let, film script, television script and screenplay writing to the newcomers in this field. WGI has also conducted numerous seminars at state level.

The Organization wants to encourage young writers and worth-full poor writers to publish their stories, books and research works as single volume or in a combined booklet. The Writers Guild of India is planning to organize Writers Guild of India Young Writers Awards to amateur writers.

History

The Writers Guild of India is a national association of story writers, poets, stage/drama writers, and film and television writers. The WGI was started in 2004 as Script Writers Association of Andhra Pradesh (SWAAP) name, and later in 2009 it was turned as Writers Guild of India to promote literature in India.

SWAAP and WGI founder member Bulemoni Venkateshwarlu was unanimously elected as President for this Guild.
