Hon. William Egerton (1684–1732) was a British Army officer and politician who sat in the House of Commons almost continuously from 1706 to 1732..

Egerton was the fourth son of John Egerton, 3rd Earl of Bridgwater. He joined the army and was a captain in the 6th Foot in 1704 and was captain and lieutenant in the 1st Foot Guards from 1705.[2]

Egerton was returned as Member of Parliament (MP) for Buckinghamshire at a by-election on 27 February 1706. At the 1708 general election he was returned unopposed as MP for Brackley. He was returned again 1710 but at the 1713 general election there was a contest and after election he was unseated on petition on 20 April 1714.[2] He was returned again at Brackley in 1715, 1722 and 1727.[3]

Egerton was made Colonel of his own infantry regiment (1715–1719), later known as the 36th Regiment of Foot and of a second regiment, later the 20th Regiment of Foot, from 1719 to his death.

Egerton married Anna Maria, the daughter of Admiral Sir George Saunders, Commissioner of the Navy, and had 3 daughters. His daughter Jane married Thomas Revell MP of Fetcham Park.
