Wilderness of Akish
According to The Book of Mormon, the wilderness of Akish was the site of a large battle during Jaredite times.
Coriantumr and his army pursued the brother of Shared to the wilderness of Akish, where a great battle ensued and many thousands died by the sword (Ether 14:3-4). Coriantumr laid siege to the wilderness, a tactic that ultimately failed when his enemies escaped and took the throne of Coriantumr (Ether 14:5-6). Coriantumr then lived for two years in the wilderness while he strengthened his army (Ether 14:7).
Later, during the war with Lib, Coriantumr's army again retreated to the wilderness (Ether 14:14).
