Formed in 1919, Westfield Health is a UK-based not for profit organisation, which provides health and wellbeing services and healthcare plans to individuals, private and public sector organisations and blue-chip companies.
With an understanding that good health is the foundation of wellbeing, Westfield Health has developed their services to provide support for their customers with their day-to-day wellbeing. Through its partnership with the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, the company has access to state-of-the-art research and technical advances on physical activity to help with the development of innovative services that will have a positive impact on the UK population.
Westfield Health operates healthcare plans for 400,000 policyholders throughout the UK and more than 8,000 organisations nationally operate a Westfield Health plan for their employees.
Most Westfield Health plans provide an allowance towards the cost of dental and optical treatment, physiotherapy, acupuncture, osteopathy, homeopathy, chiropractic treatment, and specialist consultation.
Westfield Health introduced the Hospital Treatment Insurance category to the sector, having developed insurance products for consumer and corporate markets that allow policyholders to access private treatment rather than wait for treatment on the NHS. The plans cover private treatment for a range of non-urgent surgical and medical procedures, but excludes heart and cancer-related treatments, emergency treatment, chronic conditions and cosmetic surgery.
Through its Charitable Trust, Westfield Health has donated more than £13m to the National Health Service and medically related charities since 1996 to help their customers and the community to lead healthier lives.
In September 2016, Westfield Health won the prestigious ‘Best Health Cash Plan Provider’ award in the Moneyfacts Awards 2016 for a fifth consecutive year.
In 2016 Westfield Health moved to newly refurbished offices in Sheffield, UK.
