West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust runs West Suffolk Hospital which is a large district general hospital in Bury St Edmunds, England. The Trust provides a wide range of services to the population of west Suffolk and serves a catchment area of approximately 600 square miles with a population of around 275,000 people.[1]

The trust is adopting the Cerner Millennium electronic patient record system, hoping to go live with the new system in October 2015.[2]

It was named by the Health Service Journal as one of the top hundred NHS trusts to work for in 2015. At that time it had 2604 full-time equivalent staff and a sickness absence rate of 3.86%. 78% of staff recommend it as a place for treatment and 76% recommended it as a place to work.[3]

In September 2016, the trust was selected by NHS England as one of twelve Global Digital Exemplars.[4]

In January 2018 it was rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, one of only seven general hospitals in England awarded the highest possible rating. The end-of-life service in particular was praised.[5]
